Guipure Border

Very good condition. Occasional broken thread, a little localized faint brown staining (e.g., see lower right in the photo), cut both ends. As originally purchased, the ends had been cut into points, I cut these off on both ends, a total of ~45".

Linen thread, working (.216 to .395 mm) gimp ~.73 mm

This piece is all guipure, no pieced work, and the footside edge is part of the work - no separate engrelure. It has an upper and lower pattern section, each of the same design and orientation.  Origin is unknown, but it might have been made on a bolster pillow, perhaps Italian?
